Welcome to River Run Retrievers!
River Run Labrador Retrievers is
a small, family oriented kennel owned and cared for by Dennis and Gail Banks with help
from our 15 year grandson, Andrew. We are Labrador
enthusiasts and have owned labs for over fifteen years. Our first hunting lab puppy was bought as a playmate for Andrew
and a hunting companion for Dennis. Dennis has been
involved with hunting waterfowl for 20+ years. We are strong supporters of
the HRC/UKC organization and actively participate at all levels of
competition. We are active members of the
Eastern Caroline Hunting Club, the Shenandoah Valley Hunting Retriever Club and
most recently helped formed the new James River Hunting Retriever Club in
Virginia.
We believe that the
loyalty of a Labrador Retriever as a family pet and their hunting ability make
them the perfect dog to own. We have been in love with the breed since owning
our first hunting lab, Andrew’s Molly. From Molly we learned what to look for in
bloodline/pedigree and a health guarantee. We learned both are equally important.
We lost Molly to cancer and did our homework to ensure that our
foundation bitches came from a breeding program that was free of any hereditary
health problems and
a bloodline that proved hunting ability. We strive to continue that same
quality in the pups that are whelped at River Run Kennels.
River Run Retrievers is small by
design. Seldom will we have more than one or two litters each year. Our goal is threefold:
First to produce healthy, genetically sound pups.
Second, for the hunter or hunt test
dog, to breed to
stud dogs with the best hunting ability available to produce pups
with intelligence which will excel when trained. Third, for the pet owner, to produce pups with good looks and an even
temperament that will make them a joy to include in the family.
