                        GRHRCH RIVER RUN'S PERLE  d'OR
One Grand Pass - Fall 06                   OFA Hips & Elbows - Good     Current CERF

Pearl is out of the Spring '01 breeding between Abbie and GMHRCH WR Deep Run Desperado MH. We kept her because we wanted to know first hand about the temperament and the trainability of these pups. Our expectations have been by far exceeded in Pearl. She is a very stylish, energetic retriever, loving land and water with equal drive and desire. Pearl is an outstanding hunting retriever possessing those traits desired in a dual purpose family companion/hunting dog (temperament, intelligence, desire and style). She is a very vivacious, affectionate female, but always under control. Her name, Perle d'Or, means "color of gold" and she is certainly gold to us. Pearl received her Started Retriever title spring '03 and her Working Retriever title this fall. She received her Hunting Retriever title at the May '05 Keystone  test held in PA. Out of 22 dogs entered Pearl was one of the five to qualify. Pearl received her HRCH Title at the Big Elkin test on April 8, '06.

We are certainly beaming with pride ... Pearl ran and passed her first HRC (The Hunting Retriever Club) GRAND at the 2006 Fall Grand held in GA. She was trained and handled by Charlie Jurney of Beaverdam Kennels. Many thanks to Charlie Jurney for getting her this pass with just a limited time of training (6 weeks).
Note: Pearl dropped out of the spring 2007 Grand due to a shoulder injury and at the fall 2007 Grand she came in season. Pearl had her first litter of pups on 11/25/07. She is pictured here with her Minnie Pearl.
Pearl reached a new milestone in March 2008 at the Cherokee Foothills HRC hunt test where she entered the elite 500 Points Club. A second milestone was reached in Georgia at the 2008 spring HRC Grand; she passed her second grand to earn her Grand Hunting Retriever title. Thank you Charlie for having faith in our girl and gaining this well deserved recognition.

HRCH UH  WR SR RIVER RUN'S MISTY MORNING TEAL                                          Current CERF

Teal is the "little duck" in our family. She is from our breeding between Kate and GMHR Leroy Brown (Southland Kennel).  She is very much like her mother, fast on her feet and always in to something. Teal has proven to be every thing we wanted in a chocolate. She is quick to learn and eager to please. She started competing late fall '03 in the NAHRA hunt test and has gone 4 for 4 qualifying at the Mid Atlantic Region for her Started Retriever title. Our little Teal has made us very happy earning her Working Retriever title this past weekend at the Shenandoah Valley Hunting Retriever Club (April 22/23 '06).
Two titles is a row for Teal ... WR title on 4/23 and her HR title at the HRC Keystone Retriever Club in PA on 4/30/06.

Teal and I are moving forward and playing with the big dogs ... we earned our first finished pass at the Old South in March '07. Teal and I earned her HRCH title at the James River HRC test in October 07. Dennis and Teal got her Upland title in November at the Charleston Retriever Club.

SHR River Run's Smoke, Sizzle n' Splash

Splash, our beloved chessie, began having seizures right after earning her HRC Started Hunting Retriever title. She earned her Started title at the James River HRC test in March '06 when she was just 10 months old. Splash has grown to be quite the lady and showed great promise for competing.

We learned she has canine epilepsy and can no longer compete in hunt test. She still loves to retriever and we have a hard time keeping her out of water. We are currently looking a loving home for her. She would need to be the only dog and lots of room to run. She is currently on Phenobarbital and will need to stay on her medication. We have had Splash spayed and she loves children of all ages.
If you think you could provide a loving home for Splash please contact us.

Below are some of our favorite picture of Splash

Dennis went to NC looking a stud for Kate and came home with this little darling. She is a bit on the small side but already showing promise of big things to come. In the pictures above we took her down to the lake for her first outing and without any hesitation she made her first water retrieve at 7 weeks old. Splash will be making her debut at the SVHRC HRC test  September 16 in the Puppy Division.

OUR RETIRED GIRLS

MHR WR SR RIVER'S RUN LADY ABIGAIL    OFA Excellent-OFA Elbows-current CERF

Abbie is 65 lbs of loyalty and love coming from a solid line of titled field trial, hunt test and gun dogs. She is honey gold in color, very solid, muscular and loaded with intelligence. Abbie is an excellent marker on land and water. She is a natural hunter with a tremendous nose for upland hunting. The water is never too cold for her. She easily completed her NAHRA Started and Working Retriever titles before the age of two, earning the Brass Band award with both titles. Abbie completed her qualifications this year (2003) for her Master Hunter Retriever title. With her calm disposition my granddaughter as a toddler could walk her on a lead. This past summer ('03) she received her Canine Citizenship award and has also been certified as a Therapy Dog. Her favorite game is softball with our grandson, Andrew. Her best position is short stop.

Abbie is now the "lady of the house" and enjoying every minute of it. She still loves to retriever and is ready to go with the rest of the girls when we travel. Occasionally we run her in Upland which is her favorite game in HRC.

MHR WR SR RIVER RUN BLACK POWDER KATE                         OFA Good-OFA Elbows- Current CERF

Kate is the perfect lady with the perfect attitude sired by the perfect dog, GMHRCH Six O'clock Scholar, MH. She easily completed the qualifications for her NAHRA Started and Working Retriever titles before the age of two earning the Brass Band award with both. Kudos' for Kate, she qualified at the 2003 Mid Atlantic Region Hunt Test for her Master Hunter Retriever title. She is full of mischief and always ready to go whether it is training, hunting or playing. She has great natural instincts and will never give up the hunt until she has located the fall. Kate loves the water and makes a high, flying water entry. Her favorite game is playing football with Andrew and her best position is wide receiver. She is coal black and chocolate factored weighing about 55 lbs.

Kate is now enjoying retirement with our 3 grandsons who keep her plenty busy chasing & retrieving their softball, footballs, and soccer balls.
